It's a line on our trucks, and we mean it literally. Paint on a coastal home isn't decoration — it's the barrier between Florida weather and the wood, stucco, and framing underneath. When we look at a house, color is the last thing we talk about. What we're really assessing is whether that barrier is intact and what's happening behind it.
Maintenance First, Because the Cheap Fix Is Always Earlier
Two decades of working on the same streets teaches you that almost every expensive job started as a cheap one somebody left alone. A soft spot on a fascia board is an hour of carpentry in year one and a section of roof edge in year four. A hairline stucco crack is a tube of sealant now and a delaminated wall later. Salt film on siding is a wash today and a full repaint two years early if it stays.
So we inspect before we quote, and we tell you what we find — including the parts that can wait. If your paint has three good years left, we'd rather say so and wash the house than sell you a repaint you don't need. Clients who trust that assessment are the ones still calling us fifteen years later.
What We're Actually Looking For
On a walkaround, the things that matter most on a Northeast Florida home:
- Rot in trim, fascia, sills, door jambs, and garage surrounds — usually where caulk failed first
- Stucco cracks, bulges, and efflorescence that signal water moving through the wall
- Salt and mildew buildup holding moisture against the coating and shortening its life
- Failed caulk and sealant at every joint, penetration, and transition
- Chalking and uneven fade showing where the coating is breaking down first
One Crew, One Company, One Phone Number
Most of what a coastal home needs isn't a single trade. A proper exterior job might mean washing the house, replacing two feet of rotted fascia, patching stucco, re-caulking forty joints, painting, and cleaning the windows on the way out. Hire that piecemeal and you coordinate four companies, four schedules, and four opinions about whose work caused the problem.
We do it all with our own licensed and insured crew: interior and exterior painting, soft and pressure washing, window cleaning, and carpentry. One estimate, one schedule, one company accountable for the result. And because the same people who painted your house are the ones washing it next spring, we notice what's changed.
We're based on Hibiscus Street in Atlantic Beach, and we've worked these neighborhoods for over twenty years — from Atlantic Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach out to Nocatee and Fleming Island. We run into our clients at the grocery store. That has a way of keeping standards high.
The HII Protection Warranty
Every job we finish carries the HII Protection Warranty — a written promise that the work holds up. Find a spot we missed, a run in the finish, or a repair that didn't hold? You call, we come back, we make it right. No arguing, no run-around. Fixing our own work is part of the price you already paid. Behind that we carry over $3,000,000 in liability coverage, so your home is protected from the first day of prep through the final walkthrough.
That's what "protect" means to us: the barrier on your house, and the promise behind the work that put it there.
