Luxury vinyl plank has become the default for good reason: it is dimensionally stable, waterproof, forgiving of slab moisture, and comfortable to walk on. For LVP installation we care most about wear-layer thickness and whether the product is rigid core — thin floating planks telegraph every imperfection in the slab.
Tile flooring is still the right answer in wet areas and for beach houses where sand and salt get tracked in daily. Solid hardwood floors are beautiful and viable inland, but on a coastal slab we usually steer clients to engineered wood, which handles Northeast Florida moisture swings far better than solid plank.

How Fast an Empty House Goes
A typical 2,500-square-foot house with existing tile to remove runs about a week and a half: two to three days of demolition and slab prep, three to four days of installation, then a day for baseboards and trim paint. Carpet-only removal is faster. Large-format tile with an out-of-flat slab is slower, because leveling has to happen first and cannot be rushed.
Material lead time is the real constraint. We measure during your closing period, add proper waste factor, and have the pallets delivered before day one — because a dye-lot shortage discovered mid-install is what turns a nine-day job into a three-week job.

Is LVP or tile better for a Jacksonville house?
LVP for most living areas — it is waterproof, stable and easier on a slab. Tile for entries, laundry and bathrooms, and for beach houses where sand gets tracked in constantly. Many of our projects use both.
Do you have to remove the old tile?
For LVP, almost always yes — floating a new floor over old tile telegraphs grout lines and raises floor height at doors and thresholds. Removal is loud and dusty, which is exactly why an empty house is the time to do it.
Can you replace flooring in the whole house at once?
That is the job we prefer. Whole-house replacement in one pass avoids transition strips between rooms, keeps the dye lot consistent and takes a fraction of the time it would with furniture in the way.
Do you paint baseboards after flooring goes in?
Yes. We pull baseboards before demolition, reinstall them after the floor is down, and caulk and touch up the paint line so there is no gap or scuff left behind.
